Sabine flying to NYC

So Sabine's shoulder is feeling much better now, thanks the team of excellent doctors that she took treatment from and she recently said on her twitter that she has been training a lot for the upcoming US Open .

Yesterday she tweeted that she is flying to NYC, and will be fresh and rehabilitated to take NYC by a storm!

Lets wish her a safe journey and a great tournament!

PS:- Sorry if I havent updated this blog in a bit, I was sick with a bad case of a flu.

Injured Sabine pulls out of Cincinnati

Sabine just tweeted that she is heading home to Florida for some recovery time and will not be taking part in the Western and Southern Financial Group Women's Open which takes place next week in Cincinnati . She injured her right shoulder yesterday, during her match against Sorana Cirstea.

Lets wish her a speedy recovery and banging US Open!

Sabine had to retire in the match against Sorana Cirstea during the Bank of the West Classic tournament due to a shoulder injury.

Sorana won the first set 6-3 and was leading in the second by 1-0 when the pain became too unbearable for Sabine and had to retire. The medical staff/Sabine's crew has yet to tell us about the seriousness of the injury to her right shoulder.

This what she had to say about it -
'Had to retire today during my singles. My shoulder was hurting and I wasn´t able to serve. Tomorrow I´ll have some exams done..."

So Sabine scraped through her first round match against Kimiko date 76(5) 26 75.
For those who dont know that the draw has been changed (Because Marion Bartoli withdraw from the tournament) you can check it out here. She is next up against E. Makarova whom she has to lost to in 2006. Lets hope she is motivated for some revenge !

The match is tomorrow and the full schedule for tomorrow will be posted on the East West Bank Classic Website here.

The next stop for Sabine during the USO Olympus series is L.A . The draws for the tournament are out and Sabine will be playing the former top 10 player Hantuchova in the first round. There if she wins it she will set up an intriguing second round clash against Dinara Safina. Hopefully she will be motivated to get revenge for the Wimbledon loss!

Bank of the West Classic : Round 1- Sabine def. Lilia Osterloh 6-2 6-3

Sabine defeated the American Qualifier in straight sets to reach the second round of Bank of the West Classic tournament to set up an intriguing clash with the former World #1 Jelena Jankovic!

She seemed pretty relaxed after the match (well duh! it was quite easy , as the German's power was too much for Lilia) and "had a good cool down and massage afterwards".

I found an interesting article about Sabine while I was browsing some random stuff in the sports section. Basically, the article tells us about the milestones that Sabine has reached since she started playing professional tennis. It also gives us an idea of what might be in store for her in the future asfar as tennis is concerned! It was a great read.

I wonder if such articles add to the pressure that she might already be experiencing or if they help to motivate her to prove herself even more. I hope its the latter one :)

Sabine's International Coverage

As we all know, Sabine first came into the limelight after her win Against Safina in 2008 Australian Open. But her real claim to fame was the tournament win at Family Circle Cup in Charleston this year.

The international television numbers are in for the Family Circle Cup. This spring's tournament reached 241.2 million households in 15 territories — Pan-Europe, Asia-Pacific, Australia, Russia, China, India, Mexico, Spain, Japan, Brazil, Latin America (except Brazil), Korea, Philippines, Taiwan and Thailand.

The latest Family Circle, which was won by Sabine , received a total of 164 hours of international broadcast exposure.

Sabine has been busy hitting some balls with her father (who is also her coach). Looks like we are in for a great week, tennis-wise.

Sabine will be playing at Bank of the West Classic tournament in Stanford, next week.

The Bank of the West Classic is the longest-running women-only professional tennis tournament in the world and is the first stop of the Olympus US Open Series. A Sony Ericsson WTA Tour Tier II event, the Bank of the West Classic is a well-established Bay Area event and features a 32-player singles draw and a 16-team doubles draw with total prize money of $700,000.

Sabine is unseeded in the draw and will be facing a Qualifier. She has quite a realisitc chance of making it to the Semifinals, as the major hurdles in her way are those pesky doublefaults of her and the 4th seed Jelena Jankovic (who is in a slump of sorts).

Waiting for her in the semifinals, is supposed to be the 11 time Grandslam Champion and her serving cousin, Serena Williams.
